“One of the main reasons I joined the Chamber is because they have a voice on behalf of our company. There is tremendous value right there.”
In 2012, Austin Kim was expanding his business with the construction of a new building at his PG Recycling & Return-It Centre location near the corner of Vance Road and Hwy 16 West. This meant a change to the zoning laws, public hearings, and red tape at City Hall. The Prince George Chamber of Commerce assisted in the process by providing a letter of support and acted as an advocate for Kim’s business during the process.
“They didn’t hesitate to help.”
Because the Chamber represents hundreds of businesses, Kim says, they have a larger voice than a single small business owner might have. This is part of the reason he feels it’s important for small businesses to have a membership to the PG Chamber.
“I strongly recommend that people and businesses get a Chamber membership,” he adds, “the Chamber acts as a separate entity that can listen and help you express your concerns.”
