Prince George, October 21, 2017 – The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted their 32nd Annual Business Excellence Awards tonight at the Prince George Playhouse. The Business Excellence Awards is an annual event hosted by the Prince George Chamber of Commerce to celebrate excellence in ten traditional award categories as well as the Hell Yeah Prince George Ambassador award which involves an online public vote. The Business Excellence Awards takes place in October as part of the Small Business Month. This year, over 215 people attended the event.
This year’s theme also included a new format for the annual event. The Chamber “ditched the dinner” for a red carpet-style event, starting with a cocktail hour including appetizers and drinks, theatre seating, and entertainment by Judy Russell Presents. Returning Emcee Kyle Sampson was joined by Sandra Clermont, playing on Kyle’s last-minute role of Emcee in 2016 and providing ample entertainment as he endeavoured to chase an acting career.
Ten awards were handed out in categories ranging from the prestigious Business of the Year and Business Person of the Year awards to the ever popular Service Excellence and Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Voting for the Hell Yeah Prince George Ambassador Award occurred publicly on Facebook from October 18 to 21; this award recognizes an individual or organization who has demonstrated community pride and a commitment to making Prince George a positive place to live and work.
Tim Bennett, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George was named this year’s Business Person of the Year. “It’s an incredible honour,” said Bennett. “I’m truly speechless.”
Northland Auto Group hosted the official After Party, where guests celebrated the success of all winners and finalists.
