Prince George, September 4, 2014 – The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is introducing an element of technology and social media to the long-running Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards event. The first Hell Yeah Prince George Ambassador Award will be presented at the Business Excellence Awards Gala October 25th at the PG Civic Centre.
“It’s an addition to the other ten, more traditional, categories” says Christie Ray, Chamber CEO, “a reflection of a new increasing pride in place being demonstrated across the community.” To win this award, you will have demonstrated, in some way, your commitment to betterment and/or promotion of the positive aspects of Prince George.
The team at the Chamber of Commerce decided to implement this innovative award category in recognition of the many businesses, individuals and organizations in the community doing extraordinary things to make Prince George a better place to live and work. Upon hearing about the new award category, the Prince George Airport Authority immediately inquired about becoming the award sponsor. “This award fits perfectly with our corporate culture so we knew we wanted to be a part of it. Every employee at YXS is an ambassador of our city as they are often times the first point of contact for visitors. The more people championing Prince George the better and HYPG has given all of us a venue to showcase the amazing spirit of this city” says Lindsay Cotter, Communications Manager at YXS.
The process surrounding this new award will be completely online, in partnership with the amazing admin team for the Hell Yeah Prince George Facebook page and award sponsor YXS. Though presented in the same way as those in the other categories, the HYPG Ambassador Award will be open for online voting, through the Hell Yeah PG Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/hellyeahprincegeorge/), until just moments before the presentation.
The nomination process was launched online late yesterday, with nominations already pouring in from the community of more than 16,000 page supporters.
