The Prince George Chamber of Commerce’s
Carbon Reduction Project
Since 2015, CN (https://www.cn.ca/en/delivering-responsibly/environment) has been the primary funder for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce to facilitate a carbon reduction project focusing on local businesses and our community. The Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable has also been an integral part in our Carbon Reduction Project since 2014, continuing to promote and support the improvement of local air quality. https://www.pgairquality.com/
By partnering with students and faculty members in the Carbon Management class at the University of Northern British Columbia, participating Chamber members can receive a FREE carbon footprint analysis. https://www.unbc.ca/northern-leadership/news/taking-steps-reduce-carbon-footprints. These custom projects are done to internationally recognized standards and are crucial for any size of business or organization to measure its fossil fuel usage. The report also provides insight and reflection on current business procedures and practices, along with recommendations on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Often these changes lead to reduced operational costs.
The process is easy for businesses and offers an exciting way to learn and understand individual and unique problems industries face when dealing with carbon emissions.
