The Chamber Carbon Action Plan (C2AP) links businesses to university students to create carbon footprint analyses done to internationally recognized standards. The data obtained educates businesses with measurable data and ideas to improve operations in order to become more energy efficient. The students interact directly with each business volunteer to understand operational realities plus hone a new job skill. Previously known as the Prince George Chamber of Commerce’s Carbon Reduction Project this concept can be easily adapted by other Chambers and post-secondary educational institutions. Since 2015 the primarily funder is CN.
The Chamber facilitates project funding, pairs business volunteers with Chamber Carbon Interns or students from the University of Northern British Columbia’s Carbon and Energy Management class, and publicly celebrate the successes earned. The students create carbon footprint analyses at no charge to businesses. https://bit.ly/2K3MMli

These custom reports are crucial for any size of business or organization to measure its fossil fuel usage. The report also provides insight and reflection on current business procedures and practices, along with recommendations on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Often these changes lead to reduced operational costs.
The process is easy. It offers an exciting way to understand individual and industry-wide issues around carbon emissions.
