The Top 40 Under 40 initiative involves a nomination-based selection of the top 40 individuals under the age of 40 in Prince George. Now in its third edition, our Chamber publishes an online and print magazine with approximately 6500 printed copies distributed throughout the community. Not only does the Top 40 Under 40 initiative promote young professionals in our community, but it also highlights Prince George’s strong business climate.
Nominations are open June 12 – 23!
The summer prior to the magazine publication date, the Chamber of Commerce calls for public nominations for the Top 40 Under 40 initiative. The nomination link is included in our Chamber Chatter e-newsletter, posted on the Chamber website, available on the Chamber Facebook page and shared throughout our network. Anyone can nominate a Prince George resident between the ages of 19-39. We’re looking for individuals that represent the best of Prince George’s entrepreneurs, managers, professionals and students. They are the rising stars of our community who demonstrate leadership, are involved in our community, and have a wealth of experience and professional achievements.
Following the deadline for nominations, Chamber staff will contact each individual nominee in order to confirm the following: -That they wish to let their name stand for selection -Contact details -Completion of a mandatory follow up questionnaire to gather complete details on the nominee’s experience, achievements, leadership and community activities Information provided by both the nominator and the nominee will then be passed on to the judging panel for their review.
A panel of ten judges from the business community will independently review the nomination material, discuss the entire list of nominees with the judging panel, and then score the nominees based on a judging matrix of criteria. Winners are chosen based on a wide range of merits such as professional achievements, experience, leadership, and community involvement. Judges look first and foremost atan individual’s professional success. They are interested in knowing about the nominee’s education, community service, participation in industry and business associations, and other accolades and awards they may have received. They look for a selection of impressive people from a wide range of industries who have already achieved considerable success for their age. Finally, judges will independently score each nominee on a scale of 1-5.

In the event of a tie, the judging panel will re-score only those individuals who are tied. If the tie has not been broken through this extra step, the CEO of the Chamber will choose the finalist.
Following the selection of the Top 40 finalists, the Chamber staff will email the finalists to congratulate them on becoming a finalist and will inform them on what the next steps of the process are. Our finalists are professional photographed and their bios are created to be included in our Top 40 Under 40 magazine publication. All nominees will receive an email thanking them for their participation in the Top 40 Under 40 initiative and inviting them to save the date for the publication Launch Party. Once the publication has been printed and delivered, the Chamber will host a launch event to formally announce and celebrate the list of Top 40 Finalists.
