The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is planning its first familiarization tour of China in the fall of 2014. This all-inclusive tour will visit several cities, including Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai with opportunities to visit historic sites including the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Ming Tombs, and The Bund.
This fully escorted trip will offer Prince George and area residents an introduction to the people, history, culture, commerce and daily life of China. There will also be an opportunity for Chamber members to make business contacts in China during the trip.
As an exclusive savings to Prince George Chamber members, the cost of the tour will be $2499 (inclusive).
Non-members may join the tour for an additional charge of $150 per person.
October 16, 2014 | Vancouver/Shanghai/Beijing
Check in at Vancouver International Airport for an early afternoon flight then depart at 1:30pm for Shanghai. Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner. You will cross the International Dateline.
October 17, 2014 | Shanghai/Beijing
Land at Shanghai at 4:35pm, then take a connecting flight to Beijing at 7:35pm/ You will be met by your local tour guide at the airport. You will transported from the airport to your hotel to check in for the night.
October 18, 2014 | Beijing
Visit the 2008 Beijing Olympic venues for an outside view of the National Stadium (the Bird’s Nest) and the National Aquatic Centre. You’ll continue the tour to the Great Wall with a visit en route at a jade factory. The Great Wall, 4000 miles long and 2000 years old, is said to be the only man made structure visible by the naked eye from the moon. Next up is a visit to the Ming tombs- one of the 13 Ming Emperors’ tombs is fully excavated and open for exploration. A Peking roast duck dinner is arranged.
October 19, 2014 | Beijing
Visit Tian An Men Square, the largest square in the world, and the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, home of 24 emperors with a total of 9999 rooms! Visit the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 A.D., where the emperors prayed to the heaven for a good harvest. There will be a visit to the pearl market. The city tour continues with the Summer Palace, known for the Long Corridor with its painted gallery, Kumming Lake and Longevity Hill, Seventeen-Arch Bridge and Marble Boat. For those interested in the business inquiry portion of the trip will have a business conference with local government.

October 20, 2014 | Beijing/Shanghai/Suzhou
You will take a morning flight to Shanghai, then take a bus ride to Suzhou. You will enjoy an afternoon of sightseeing to Tiger Hill.

October 21, 2014 | Suzhou/Hangzhou
This day will begin with a morning visit to the Suzhou silk factory and continue to tour to the centuries old Lingering Garden. The afternoon will be filled with a visit to the National Embroidery Institute to see silk embroidery, an important local craft with a 1000 year history. After dinner you will board the tour bus and travel to Hangzhou.
October 22, 2014 | Hangzhou/Shanghai
There will be a morning boat cruise on West Lake with a relaxing stopover at jewel-like pagodas. You will also visit the Longjing Green Tea Plantation and the centuries old Lingyin Temple with a 64.3 foot-high camphor-wood carved Buddha. You will continue on your bus journey to Shanghai.
October 23, 2014 | Shanghai
On this day you will visit The Bund, a famous waterfront park and the Shanghai Silk Rug Factory. In the afternoon you will enjoy the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rocky works and over-arching trees. You will have free time to explore the old town bazaar. For those interested in the business inquiry portion of the trip will take part in a business visit to the Pudong economic development zone.

October 24, 2014 | Shanghai/Vancouver
You may spend your final hours in China on your own. Everyone will board an afternoon flight from Pudong to Vancouver on the same day.
